About

Our History

The Tampa Bay RHIO began its mission in 2005 when the Florida Health Information Network (FHIN) grant program was put into place to help Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs) build interoperable Electronic Health Information Exchange (EHIE).  The Tampa Bay RHIO was successful in connecting Tampa General Hospital, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute and University Community Health.  However, 2008 saw the end of the FHIN grant, just as the Tampa Bay RHIO was at the tipping point. Since inception, we have worked hard to bring all the stakeholders, both Doctors and Hospitals  to the table for the common good of the entire Tampa Bay region.
